Do Away With Envy

Envy is wanting the possessions and destiny of others.

To be filled with envy is to be filled with a jealousy of what others may have that you do not have. However, in the real sense, to be envious of others is really to be unhappy with what the Creator has given to you and to be unhappy with the destiny that Yahweh has laid down for you.

Envy removes you from the path that Yahweh have created for you. Being removed from your personal path, removes the direction in your life, and confusion sets in. The bitterness caused by envy will defile you and destroy you.

Overcome envy, knowing that the Creator has the perfect plan for your life, and has all good things planned for you.

The Eternal Message

Everyone loves to have interaction with those whose principles and ways of doing things do not change. This makes them able to predict outcomes and thereby make life easier for themselves. They know where to thread and what not to do.

The interesting thing is that the Creator is the most constant factor in all existence. He is an Eternal being with eternal principles and Words. He declared in Malachi 3:6 that “I am YAHWEH and change not”.

Throughout Scripture, He made promises, spoke words, initiate covenants, brought forth ideas, and gave eternal commands. In Him, there is no variation. This same attribute was declared by Yeshua and his disciples. There are many places where they spoke words regarded as ‘message you heard from the beginning’.

One of such messages is, “that we should love one another” (1 John 3:11). Yeshua and his disciples knew very well that the demand to love one another was as old as the creation of man itself. Since YAHWEH is love, love was from the beginning.

Are you then walking in the path that births your creation? Have you forgotten the age-long saying, “the sea that forgets its source will dry”?  When you refuse to love your fellow human being, you cut yourself off from your Creator and wither away. Live in love today.

Shalom!

The real Acts of kindness

Most of the favors we do for others are things they do not need, things they only imagine they need, because we live in a world propelled by fantasies.

And most of the kindness we do is saturated with ulterior motives. We do kindness for those we love, those close to us, or those who make us feel good when they receive.

But this does not matter. They are acts of kindness, nonetheless, and Yahweh desires to be found in acts of kindness. And where can kindness be performed? In a world of delusions, where people imagine all sorts of needs and each of us is dependent on the other.

The highest, indeed, is found in the lowest, the deepest truths are submerged in the muddiest pits of confusion.

Yeshua and the Gentiles

Many people who are not knowledgeable about the Tanach, called the Old Testament, will believe that there is no place for non-jews in the plan of Yahweh for Israel. That is why they so strongly believe that Yeshua came to open up a new way for gentiles to have eternal access to the Almighty instead of that for Israel.

There are many instances in the Tanach where non-jews became part of the worship system of the Jews to worship Yahweh. Aside these instances, there are also prophecies about gentiles joining Jews to worship Yahweh. This is in line with the Priesthood role of Israel and it’s duty to lead the world to righteousness in the messianic era.

When one considers the words of Yeshua during the cleansing of the temple after his triumphant entry into Jerusalem, you will see that he quoted from the book of Isaiah.

Isaiah 56 vs 7
I will bring THESE to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.”

Who are the “these” Yahweh was referring to? They are foreigners and eunuchs who will step up to join themselves to Yahweh, holding on unto His covenant and keeping His Sabbaths (Isaiah 56:3-4).

This prophecy of the temple accommodating Gentiles (for gentiles are not allowed to worship in the temple then) was for a future time and had been partially fulfilled in the days of Yeshua because Herod in 19 B.C.E. doubled the size of the Temple Mount. He added large areas to the north, west, and south of the pre-Herodian complex. Above the southern wall of the Temple Mount, he built a huge colonnaded structure called the Royal Stoa. When compared with others in the Roman Empire, it is clear that this edifice served as a sacred marketplace. Normally the changing of money and buying of sacrificial animals took place in this building.

The Herodian additions were constructed around the Temple Mount that was originally built by King Hezekiah. That mount was a square of 500 cubits (861 feet, 262.50 m) on each side. Although this area henceforth became a court inside the expanded Herodian complex, only this square area was considered the Temple Mount by the priests of that time. A tractate called “Measurements” in the Mishnah Middot 2.1, an authoritative collection of Jewish oral laws that was compiled at the end of the second century C.E., calls only that earlier square mount har habbayit, or Temple Mount. The same source indicates that the outer part of this square mount was called the Court of the Gentiles, which was separated from the centrally located sacred precincts by a balustrade, or soreg.

It was this Court of the Gentiles that Yeshua cleared those trading signifying that soon gentiles will have access to the place to worship Yahweh.

Definitely, from the beginning, Yahweh have the gentiles in mind in his dealings with Abraham and his descendants. Does it not now look awkward that gentiles will seek to create a plan for salvation for themselves outside that which Yahweh has in mind? Did Yeshua not say, “Salvation is of the Jews”? (John 4:22).

The Apostles had initial hitch in bringing gentiles into the fold but that was settled in Acts 15 and letter sent to all places where there were gentile converts. Paul submitted to the authority of James and other Apostles in Jerusalem and stayed bound to their decision concerning gentiles who ‘are turning to Yahweh’. Why then did the gentiles of the second century snatched authority from the Jewish leaders of the movement and changed the message of Yeshua?

Yeshua stayed glued to Yahweh’s plan for the gentiles to bring them into His house but the gentiles under the influence of Rome built a new ‘temple’ for themselves and excluded the Jews.

THE PURPOSE OF REWARD

Text:
[Yahweh instructed Moses to tell the Jewish people, “When someone is your bondman,] you must not work him with backbreaking labor.” – Leviticus 25:43

Background: Yahweh taught Moses the laws regarding the employment of Jewish servants. If a Jewish thief is convicted of stealing something and cannot pay back the value of what he has stolen, the court can hire him out as a servant, using the proceeds of this “sale” to pay off his debts. Also, if a Jewish man has no other way of supporting himself, he can hire himself out as a servant. In either case, the “master” is required to treat the servant humanely, properly feeding and clothing him, and is not allowed to give him demoralizing jobs to do.

Lesson:
Working without purpose is demoralizing and can even drive a person insane, whereas working for a constructive purpose – even if the task requires great effort – is richly rewarding. The satisfaction that results from accomplishment can be greater even than the satisfaction from the actual wages.

The efforts we are required to expend in studying the Torah and fulfilling Yahweh’s commandments may be great, but we have been taught that our efforts here below have profound influence on the cosmic realm above. Keeping this knowledge in mind enables us to study the Torah and fulfill Yahweh’s commandments with enthusiasm, joy, and purpose.

THE VALUE OF WORK

[Yahweh instructed Moses to tell the Jewish people,] “You must not take interest.” Leviticus 25:36

There is a subtle yet crucial difference between an investor profiting from his investment and a lender profiting from a loan. When we invest in a financial venture, the invested money still belongs to us; thus, our money is “working” for us. We have therefore earned the profit that the venture returns. In contrast, a loan transfers ownership of the principal to the borrower; the money now belongs to the borrower, even though he is obligated to repay it later. Thus, taking interest on a loan is profiting from someone else’s effort without having participated in that effort. The lender is collecting interest based only upon the fact that the money used to belong to him.

Taking interest on a loan is therefore opposed to the way Yahweh wants the world to operate. Yahweh intended that we refine ourselves by working for our achievements, both spiritual and material. In the words of the sages, “If someone says to you, ‘I have toiled without results,’ do not believe him. If he says, ‘I have not toiled, but have nonetheless seen results,’ do not believe him either. Only if he says, ‘I have toiled and seen results,’ believe him.”

YAHWEH SETS FREE

Daily Devotional for Wednesday 22nd of May, 2019

But the YAHWEH is righteous; he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked. (Psalm 129:4)

There is no doubt that we are confronted daily with the devices of the wicked. The devil himself is not resting on each man’s case, working assiduously to ensure that everyone walk contrary to the ways of YAHWEH.

However, YAHWEH is always on our side freeing us from the cords of the wicked. To get us, the wicked will do anything to entangle us and make us fall from the presence of YAHWEH. His love towards us makes Him to protect and deliver us from the snare of the fowler. Psalm 124:7-8 says “we have escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped; our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth”.

Yeshua, our Master, came “to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners” (Isaiah 61:1). This he will do only for those who believe in him as Master and who have confess same.

I am glad I am covered because I believe! Are you? Have you confessed Yeshua as your Lord? It is only then you can be cut free from the cord of the wicked.

Shalom!

ARE YOU ALIVE?

Daily Devotional for Monday 19th of May, 2019

We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. The one not loving his brother stays in death – 1 John 3:14

When we consider the manner in which man was created and it’s consequence, we will perceive that the Creator designed man to be like Himself to function effectively. The effective man has the Spirit of Yahweh which keeps him alive. To be found in Him is to be brought out from death.

What then is the boast of any man to being alive when he is not like the Most High? To be like Yahweh is to imbibe the attribute of the Almighty. Yahweh is love (1 John 4:8) declares the Scripture. If we claim to be a child of Yahweh, we must love as He loves.

Who then is alive? It is the man that loves like Yahweh. When our love for our fellow man is in doubt, we cannot say we are alive. Such a person is still a dead man. The second part of 1 John 3:14 says it clearly: “Anyone who does not love, remain in death”.

It is time for you to search yourself if you are truly alive. Many are deeply dead yet claim to be alive. If you are not showing love to your neighbour, you are DEAD. Show some love today!

Shalom.

RECIPE FOR HAPPINESS

Daily Devotional for Saturday 18th of May 2019

Text : Proverbs 8 : 22 – 9 : 6

All men desire to live a happy life. We daily pursue after happiness knowing fully well that it is most singular thing that shows we are in tandem with creation.

What does bring happiness?
In the Book of Proverbs, WISDOM declares “happy are those who keep my ways” (8:32) and “happy is the man who listens to me” (8:34).

Who or what is wisdom?
King Solomon speak of Wisdom as the first of the acts of the Creator. Wisdom came into being before the earth got its shape or any of its contents. Wisdom was there at Creation beside Yahweh like a master workman and has since been delighting in the sons of men.

Wisdom is the very words of the Almighty Creator. No wonder, all through the Book of Proverbs, it keep calling on men to listen to it. In the 8th chapter, it calls on men to “hear instructions and be wise and do not neglect it” (33). It beckons on men to “daily watch at my gates, waiting beside my doors” (34).

Wisdom conclusion is that if “you find me, you find life and obtains favour from Yahweh; but he who misses me injures himself; all who hate me love death” (35 – 36).

In it all, what you are being told is that, the Word of Yahweh is the tool of Creation existing with the Most High before creation; and by it everyone can find happiness.

How well do you know the Word of Yahweh and applying it to your life? There are seven pillars of wisdom; do you know them? How well are you building your life using the seven pillars of wisdom?

All these are available within the Word of Yahweh and walking in the way of wisdom brings happiness which is abundant life.

Shalom!

The Gentle Way to Educate

וַיְדַבֵּר ה’ אֶל מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר: דַּבֵּר אֶל אַהֲרֹן וגו’: (ויקרא כא:טז–יז)

G‑d spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to Aaron.” Leviticus 21:16-17

The Torah mainly uses two Hebrew words for “speaking.” The first (dibur) is reserved for “hard speech,” the straightforward, accurate delivery of the message. The second (amirah) is “soft speech,” i.e., tailoring the message to its intended recipient in order to ensure that it is indeed received and clearly understood.

The first part of this section of the Torah, which contains the laws regarding the priests’ duty to educate their children in the responsibilities of the priesthood, is couched exclusively in “soft speech.” It is only when G‑d returns to the other laws concerning the priests that He once again uses “hard speech.”

This teaches us that we must educate primarily with “soft speech.” In order to be effective, educators must relate fully to their students and tailor their style of delivery accordingly.

G‑d’s imperative regarding how the priests educate their youth applies to us all. Whenever we see in someone a behavior or attitude that is in need of inspiration or correction, we are immediately cast by Divine providence in the role of educator. In all such cases, we must remember G‑d’s instruction to make exclusive use of “soft speech.”1

ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE POOR

The designation of Nigeria as World Headquarters of Poverty naturally should have provoked many people who profess to be Bible believers to live a more righteous life.

The central theme of the Bible is LOVE towards the Creator and fellow mankind. This attribute is specifically demanded from the one who is ‘better off’ towards the poor.

In Deuteronomy 24, many verses contain commands to be fair towards the poor and not to take advantage of them. Specifically, verses 19 – 21 asked that we set aside provisions from our possessions for the poor:

Deuteronomy 24:19-21
19 When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that the Yahweh your Elohim may bless you in all the work of your hands.
20 When you beat the olives from your trees, do not go over the branches a second time. Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow.
21 When you harvest the grapes in your vineyard, do not go over the vines again. Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow.

In the times of the Apostles, the body of believers made it a custom to bring all they had to the Apostles’ feet and distribution was made to everyone as he needs. This arrangement ensured that none of them lacked in the long run (Acts 4:34-37). The bottom line is that the Most High had given unto mankind all that it needs but distributed unevenly for efficient management.

Whatever anyone has, be it Time, Talent, Treasure or Temple, is given to him to manage by the Creator. Yahweh expects us all to ensure that our endowments are used to make our world a pleasant place.

In what way are you helping those in need? What fairness are you showing towards them? Do they mean anything important to you? Dont forget what King David declared in Psalm 41: “Blessed is the man who considers the poor……”

If truly you believe in the reator and you have His Spirit in you, you MUST show love for the poor in our midst. Change your perception towards the poor and the downtrodden today!

Shalom!

THE ETERNAL MESSAGE

FORGIVE OTHERS

When two elements work together to perform a task, their constant rubbing of each other causes wear and tear. Same thing happens to us as humans when we do things together. Unlike elements, our feelings make us to sense pain and hurt leading to dissatisfaction with the other party. This negative emotion causes us to pull apart from each other affecting the way we love ourselves.

To restore our bond of oneness, there is need to forgive each other over and over again. Forgiveness is a very important tool in maintaining love in every relationship. We learn this from the Creator who is forgiving and readily restores us whenever we ask for His forgiveness.

But, why must I keep on forgiving people for all the bad things they do to me? You must forgive because Yahweh also forgives you all the time. Yeshua stated that we must forgive “seventy times seven times” (Matthew 18:22).

When you hold on to what anyone have to you and refuse to forgive them, you cause a break in the oneness of humanity. It means you are working against the will of the Most High.

Forgive those who hurt you today and bring about a healing to creation.

Shalom!

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF

If your are conversant with the Scriptures, you will know that the many commandments of Yahweh are summarized into two. Love towards the Creator (Yahweh) and love towards your neighbour. The Messiah, Yeshau, stated that on these two commandments hung all the Laws & Prophets.

The commandment to love your neighbour as yourself was mentioned once in the Jewish Bible in Leviticus 19 verse 18, while it was mentioned eight times in the writings of the followers of Yeshua.

Jewish commentaries stated that this one commandment is the summary of the Torah, an assertion Shaul (Paul) repeated in one of his epistles. How come that this simple commandment is so difficult for many to keep?

The simple answer is ‘The Self’. We are so preoccupied with self that the other person’s need and desire is secondary to ours. We see ourselves as more important than others. The acceptable love toward others is that which equates the love we have for ourselves.

This kind of love not only do good things for others but stops us from behaving negatively towards them when they do wrong to us. That is why it is placed with “You shall not avenge nor bear grudge against the children of your people” in the same verse.

Many times we are wronged by others and pushed to retaliate. The issues may not be a big one as we suppose. It could be as simple as a friend refusing to accompany us to a function and we do the same thing when we are asked to follow the friend to another place.

Perfect love is treating others as we will treat ourselves or the way we want to be treated. Show true love today!

Shalom!

THE FIRST COMMANDMENT

Many will not know the 1st commandment of the Ten as read by Yeshua in his days on earth. We all grew up to know (as taught by the church) that the first commandment is ‘Thou shall not have any other god beside me’

However, the list of the 10 commandments in the 1st Century has ‘I am Yahweh your Elohim, who brought you out of Egypt, the house of bondage’ as number 1. It is known that as the church was moving away from Judaism and dropping it’s Jewish identity, it has to also drop the personalisation of the Most High as ‘The Elohim of Israel’ and adopt the global identity of ‘Creator of the World’.

What the church did not know is that changing the first commandment is tantamount to removing the foundation and the pillar of the 10 commandments. The personal touch in the 1st commandment is not to make the commandments Jewish but to present the basis of the relationship that is needed between man and Yahweh. It is not about a Creator/Creation relationship but a Liberator/Freed Man one.

The 1st commandment is a command to the people of Israel to believe in Yahweh not as anything but as a Liberator, a Redeemer and a Savior. It could have been sweeter if Yahweh had referred to Himself as ‘Creator of the World’ or ‘Elohim of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob’ while commanding Israel; but those decriptions will not explain why the Israelites have to obey His voice and keep the covenant.

The purpose of the commandments is to set the Israetites free from every type of bondage that exist in the world. Obeying Yahweh and keeping the commandments give life to anyone. The commandments are to give life and not to keep anyone in bondage.

The word ‘Egypt’ is translated from ‘Mistrayim’ which means ‘a fencing to limit’. It means to keep in bondage. Every one is limited in experiencing life as given by Yahweh by the corruption in this world. The commandments are to help us remove these limitations and set us free. Have you wondered why Yeshua said that “I have come to give life and give it more abundantly”? It is beacuse he came to bear witness to the truth (the Torah) by teaching it accurately.

The basis of our relationship with Yahweh is to receive freedom from Him by living according to His word. Knowing Him as Creator of the World is not enough, knowing Him as Father of the Patriarchs will only help our faith but knowing Him by keeping His commands will give us LIFE.

Shalom!
